Javaid Akhtar

Javaid Akhtar is a Partner at Vellani & Vellani, where he manages the Firm's Islamabad office, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas law, infrastructure projects, and corporate and commercial law. He is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan and a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.

Javaid advises local and global clients in the oil, gas, and infrastructure sectors on all aspects of their activity, including asset acquisitions, licensing, commercial contracts, exits, acquisitions, and divestments. He routinely advises on foreign direct investment, regulatory and compliance, and general commercial matters. He started his career with the London law firm Cameron Markby Hewitt (now CMS Cameron McKenna) and continued his career in Pakistan with LASMO Oil (acquired by Eni) and the law firm Amhurst Brown, which merged with Vellani & Vellani in 2018.

Javaid holds an LL.B (Hons) from King's College, London (1991) and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales (1995).
