Minhaj Masood

Minhaj Masood is an Associate at Vellani & Vellani in Pakistan, specialising in patent law and intellectual property law. He is dual qualified as an Advocate of the District Courts of Karachi and holds a Master's degree in Applied Chemistry with specialisation in Textile Technology.

Minhaj has been practising since 2011, dealing with matters at the Pakistan Patent & Design Office, including searches, filing of new applications, examinations and responses, oppositions, restoration, assignments, and amendments. He advises on chemical, mechanical, and pharmaceutical patents and designs in Pakistan. He has provided awareness and concluded filings of patent and design applications with the Intellectual Property Office, filed overseas applications to secure the registration of inventions, drafted and advised on amendments to the Patents Ordinance 2000, and advised on alterations and assignments.

Minhaj holds an LL.B from the University of Karachi (2018) and an MSc in Applied Chemistry from the University of Karachi (2008). He is a member of the Sindh Bar Council and the Karachi Bar Association. He attended the JPAA Seminar on Patent Drafting, Examination and Response in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (2019) and a workshop by WIPO and IPO Pakistan on Patent Search in Karachi (2019).
