Afzal H. Mufti

Afzal H. Mufti is a Senior Partner at Cornelius, Lane & Mufti in Pakistan, specialising in banking and finance law, international commercial transactions, and project finance and development lending. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has over six decades of legal experience.

Afzal has served as Legal Counsel and Consultant to the Asian Development Bank in Manila from 1980 to 1988 and has continued as a Consultant to the ADB since 1988. He was previously associated with Baker & McKenzie in London (1972–1975) and is an Associate Member of the Law Society of London. He has extensive expertise in commercial credits, contracts and procurement, and the laws of international organisations, and has advised on complex cross-border financing and development projects across Asia.

Afzal holds an M.A. and a B.A. Hons. (Jurisprudence) from Oxford University, where he was a Pakistan Rhodes Scholar (1967). He also holds a B.A. and an LL.B. from the University of Punjab. He was a Visiting Law Lecturer at the University of Punjab from 1969 to 1972 and 1975 to 1979.
