Muhammad Haroon Mumtaz

Muhammad Haroon Mumtaz is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln's Inn, called in 2003). He was admitted to practice in Pakistan in 2004. He holds an LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of London and a BA from the University of the Punjab.

He specializes in commercial law, contract law, company law, arbitration (international and domestic), real estate (project development and conveyancing), oil and gas concessions, telecommunications law, infrastructure and power projects, public-private partnerships, public procurement, banking law, financial transactions, equity and trusts, charities and non-profit organizations, and administration of estates and inheritance laws.

He has advised leading real estate developers on projects across Pakistan; advised the Privatisation Commission, Government of Pakistan on the proposed privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation; advised public sector entities and an international donor agency on establishing a credit guarantee company; advised on the divestment of majority stake in a listed financial services company; and advised a Provincial Government on institutional restructuring of its Mines & Minerals Department.

He has represented a power purchasing company in a contractual dispute valued at PKR 11 Billion pending before the Sindh High Court and a dispute related to a solar power plant before the Islamabad High Court. He has advised on significant Islamic finance facilities, including a PKR 38 Billion facility for an RLNG-based power generation company and a PKR 3 Billion facility for an E&P company. He has also advised on unsolicited PPP proposals for a small dam project in Northern Punjab and a Bus Rapid Transit project in Sindh, and represented a Pakistani company before an ICC Arbitral Tribunal in Lausanne regarding licensing and technology transfer agreements.

He is a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association, and the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
