Syed Shahab Qutub

Syed Shahab Qutub is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a Partner at Axis Law, specialising in Dispute Resolution. He has more than 20 years of experience in civil, corporate, and commercial litigation and arbitration, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Shahab has represented corporate entities and individuals across diverse industries, including the power sector, construction, fertilizer, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, textiles, telecom, food and beverage, as well as banks and non-banking finance companies. He has acted as lead counsel in high-profile domestic and international arbitrations under ICC, LCIA and ICSID rules, and secured a rare US$4.5 million award in favour of a state-owned entity in a Paris-seated ICC arbitration. He recently led the team that successfully represented a leading hydropower company in an ICC arbitration relating to a payment dispute under a power purchase agreement. He also appears regularly before the Supreme Court, High Courts, and regulatory bodies including NEPRA, the Competition Commission of Pakistan and the SECP.

Shahab holds an LL.M. as a Hauser Global Scholar from NYU School of Law (2006), an LL.B. from Pakistan College of Law (2004), and a B.A. in Political Science and European History from Government College University (2000). He has been appointed as amicus curiae by the Lahore High Court on various occasions.

He is consistently ranked by Chambers & Partners (Asia Pacific) in commercial dispute resolution, where he is described as a lawyer who provides effective and strategic legal advice on complex commercial matters with a high success rate.
