Waqqas Mir

Waqqas Mir is an Advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, specialising in Dispute Resolution. His practice spans commercial, civil, constitutional, competition, taxation, media and telecommunication matters, representing major corporations and public sector organisations in courts across Pakistan.

In 2019, Waqqas played a major role in successfully defending legislation relating to the validation of actions undertaken by the Punjab Revenue Authority, a case involving revenue of billions of rupees. He has been appointed amicus curiae on four occasions by the Lahore High Court in matters relating to taxation, energy, interpretation of the Constitution, environment and local government. He previously served as Joint Director (Legal Division) at the Competition Commission of Pakistan and is an expert on Pakistani competition law, having contributed the annual Pakistan chapter to Getting the Deal Through’s Merger Control guide.

Waqqas holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School as a Fulbright Scholar (2012), an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London (2006), and completed the Bar Vocational Course at Inns Court School of Law (2007). He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and called to the Bar of England & Wales at Lincoln’s Inn.
