Shehzad Ata Elahi

Shehzad Ata Elahi is a Partner at Cornelius, Lane & Mufti in Pakistan, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, and project finance. He has been admitted to practice since 2001 and advises clients on corporate, commercial, tax, and banking laws, civil and constitutional litigation, negotiation and drafting of contracts, regulatory compliance, conveyancing and real property matters, and infrastructure projects across both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Shehzad has acted as legal counsel in numerous high‑profile transactions, including reverse mergers of unlisted companies into listed companies, corporate restructurings, mergers of sugar mills and chemicals companies, and acquisitions of listed cement and glass manufacturing companies. He has advised on the financing of solar and coal power generation projects, including 660x2 MW imported coal power projects at Port Qasim, Karachi, and 12 and 18 MW solar generation projects in Punjab. He has also advised Chinese and Middle Eastern investors on proposed acquisitions in Pakistan's power, cement, and hydropower sectors, and has acted for Joint Lead Structuring Agents on domestic Sukuk programs and for EPC Contractors on power and gas sector contracts.

Shehzad holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London and is a Barrister-at-Law of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Punjab Bar Council, and Lahore High Court Bar Association.
