Usman Akram Sahi

Usman Akram Sahi is a Partner at Cornelius, Lane & Mufti in Pakistan, specialising in energy law, corporate law, project finance, and infrastructure projects. He has been admitted to practice since 2007 and advises clients on power sector matters, corporate and commercial law, taxation, banking, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance, representing clients before the High Court, NEPRA, and in international arbitration proceedings.

Usman has advised project sponsors on the establishment of 660 MW imported coal-fired power plants in Southern Punjab and RLNG power plants in Punjab, including drafting and negotiation of EPC contracts, LTSAs, O&M Agreements, Gas Supply Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, and financing documents. He has also led the legal team for the institutional restructuring of the Mines and Minerals Department, Government of Punjab, and the computerisation of land records in Punjab. He has represented independent power producers in expert and LCIA arbitration proceedings relating to Power Purchase Agreements, provided legal advisory services to the Power Purchaser in multiple power procurement agreements, and advised on the transition of DISCOs from government-owned to private management.

Usman holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Warwick and is a Barrister-at-Law of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Punjab Bar Council, and Lahore High Court Bar Association.
