Waleed Khalid

Waleed Khalid is a Partner at Cornelius, Lane & Mufti in Pakistan, specialising in energy law, infrastructure and power projects, and mergers and acquisitions. He advises on the power sector, constitutional and commercial litigation, corporate, commercial and banking laws, arbitration, project finance, and regulatory matters across Pakistan.

Waleed has advised the Lahore Knowledge Park Company on its legal framework and organizational structure; the Government of Punjab on land records computerization and the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project; and nine Independent Power Producers (IPPs) on disputes with the Power Purchaser and the Government of Pakistan. He has also advised on joint ventures for power sector projects (solar, coal, biogas), the acquisition of two IPPs in Pakistan, the acquisition of one of the largest beverages companies in Pakistan, and the acquisition of listed cement, insurance, and sugar manufacturing companies. His experience includes advising on public-private partnership projects in the health and transport sectors, regulatory affairs for IPPs, and the restructuring of one of the largest education sector groups in Pakistan.

Waleed holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London and is a Barrister-at-Law of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn (called in 2003). He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, and Lahore High Court Bar Association.
