Badaruddin F. Vellani

Badaruddin F. Vellani is the Senior Partner at Vellani & Vellani in Pakistan, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, banking and project finance, and intellectual property law. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan with over 40 years of experience, having helped set up various multinational corporations and reputable philanthropic organisations in Pakistan.

Badaruddin has extensive experience across the Oil & Gas, Energy, Banking & Finance, Project Financing, Intellectual Property, Pharma, Healthcare, Chemicals, Industrial, and Food & Beverage sectors. He advises on mergers, acquisitions, divestments, anti-trust, infrastructure projects, taxation, labour law, and intellectual property matters including the registration, assignment, and licensing of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and domain names.

He holds a BSc (Honours) in Chemical Engineering from Loughborough University (1980), a Diploma in Law from City University London (1981), and completed the Council of Legal Education at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple (1982).

He serves on the Board of Directors of publicly listed and private entities including Shell Pakistan Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited, Wyeth Pakistan Limited, Roche Pakistan Limited, Novartis Pharma (Pakistan) Limited, and Esso Pakistan (Private) Limited. He also serves on the boards of The Aga Khan University, the Aga Khan University Foundation Pakistan, the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, and is a faculty member at the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.
